Central America includes the southernmost region of North America, separating the Caribbean from the Pacific. Consisting of seven republics: Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Panama (the first settlement of Central America). The history of Central America, also known as Latin America, began shortly before Spaniard and Portuguese invasion in the 1520’s. Although the nations were similar in heritage, there were drastic differences socially and culturally, with the inclusion of European influence, that had caused separation and socioeconomic problems.
